Winter Wonderland Details of the pictures.

For some reason when I wanted to blog about the "Winter Wonderland" pictures it wouldn't let me type anything. I swear this blogging thing has a mind of it's own.
Anyway..I wanted to just say a few things about the fun day Rog and I had with the grandkids. We had Brayden, Daxton and Makinley spend two nights with us. While we had them we played games, watched videos, ate pizza, and went sledding behind the 4 wheeler. We really had a fun time with them. I made them french toast both mornings and they seemed to love that. Brayden slept with Papa upstairs and I had Daxton and Makinley in my bed. Even though they woke up pretty early (6am) everything worked out great. By the end of the last day though they were getting onery with each other and were ready to go home. That's the nice thing about being a grandparent : )
We went up on the Alpine Loop in American Fork canyon and it was a bitter cold day. I'll bet it was maybe 15 degrees when we went sledding. The kids never complained once even though the nostril hairs were freezing up. The scenery was so beautiful and the kids had a ball. What more could you ask for? We missed Gentry. Her parents felt she needed to be a little older to stay with us and go sledding so she'll go next year.
I'm glad Rog was able to take a day off and spend time with us also. He loves being a Papa and the kids adore him. I certainly am looking forward to our next sleep over!!

Family Christmas pictures

Rog and I are so proud of our kids and grandkids. It all began over 30 years ago. Now look at us
Troy and Kori are thinking how different next Christmas will be with little Colby

Jake, Shana, Brayden and Daxton. You can see the excitement in their eyes

Jared, Kristi, Makinley and Gentry. They're so excited for Christmas!!

Our two little granddaughters are such beautiful little girls.

We're all ready to go to church. Our grandsons look so handsome in their new clothes.

Shana and I on Sunday morning.

This is the house of Dr. Kraig J....a doctor I used to work with. He decorates it like this every year. It's our family tradition to drive by each year.

This is a still picture of the home that won. Of course this picture does not do it justice because all the lights are animated and computerized.

We had such a nice day today. We had two celebrations. Roger was ordained a High Priest and we celebrated Shanas 27th birthday today. Jared and Shanas family came with us to our sacrament meeting. I love when my kids are able to do that. I know there are people in our ward that haven't seen them for a long time and there are the new people who don't know I have children that age and grandchildren. I love to show them all off. Our sacrament meeting was so spiritual today. Of course the talks were centered around our Saviour and his birth. The ward choir of course was magical. They're like a miniature tabernacle choir. My heart couldn't help but swell as I listened to the talks and music and to be surrounded by my family. After our sacrament meeting Troy and Kori came and we went into the bishops office for the ordination. How proud I was to see my two sons and my soninlaw be able to join in the circle to ordain their father. Again, my heart swelled with pride.
We came home to a wonderful dinner prepared by me of course..hahah..Shanas favorite Chicken and Broccoli casserole. I like asking the kids what they want me to make for their special dinner on their birthdays. Jared has already put his order in for his birthday in January. Shana opened her gifts and we enjoyed a yummy cake made by Jake. Shana looked so pretty in her new dress we bought her for her birthday. She's a wonderful daughter and wife and mother. I'm so proud of her.
Shana and her family had to leave to go home but the rest of us went on to see some beautiful lights. I'm not sure if any of you have heard about that home in Pleasant Grove, Utah but it won a Kentucky Fried Chicken contest for the most beautifully decorated home in the United States!! We had to see it of course. The line of cars was quite long but we were so glad we went when we did because when we were done the line was 3 times as long and getting worse. It was totally worth the wait. The lights were computerized to music and you just sat there in awe.
All in all it was such a nice day to be surrounded by those I love. And to feel the spirit that was so strong in our sacrament meeting today. I pray that you may each enjoy this holiday season and be able to share it with those you love. May you remember the "true" meaning of Christmas and take the time to ponder the events surrounding his birth and his life.
Merry Christmas!!!

A Night Out At The Gateway

With the new fresh fallen snow the scenery was so beautiful at the Gateway. At night with the lights twinkling on the trees it just glittered like stars all over. We had such a fun night with Jim and Jane, my brother and his wife. When I think of two years ago I didn't even know where he was living. So I'm so thankful that we've been able to share some fun times together. We met at the Skybox for dinner and to watch the BYU game. BYU ended up winning so that was nice. We enjoyed the company and conversation and look forward to the next time we can get together.
